we all need a little reminder every now and then

Just a reminder. I found this video tonight, again, from someone else who watched it, again. I'm pretty sure I posted this a few months ago. My point? It's just that good! I'm just going to list the things that stuck out to me most. Some are word-for-word, while others made my hand nearly fall off. shortened into my own words. The video is posted at the end. It's long, but listening to this woman is so, well-worth you time.

Lean into the discomfort of your work. Connection give purpose and meaning in life.
Shame is the fear of disconnection. Along with that is human empathy, not feeling "enough" and vulnerability. Research shows that those who have love and belonging believe in it! Courage means to tell the story of who you are with your whole heart. It takes courage to be imperfect. Compassion starts with ourselves. Connection is because of authenticity, which you have to have for a connection. Fully embrace vulnerability, it's necessary.  Research is used to control and predict. We make everything uncertain, certain. I'm right, you're wrong. Shut up. It's important to know WHY and HOW we numb. To children: You're imperfect and you're wired for struggle, but you're WORTHY of love and belonging. We pretend what we do does not have a huge impact on other people. Be authentic, be real. Say you're sorry. Say we'll fix it. Let ourselves be seen... deeply seen... vulnerably seen. Love with our hearts even though there's no guarantee. Practice gratitude and joy, even in moment of terror when we're wondering. To feel this vulnerable means we're alive. To believe we're enough, then we stop screaming and start listening.

Excellent Reminder. These are good thoughts about life that we don't need to be afraid of being vulnerable.
